Honest Scrap Award

I cannot believe I've received my first award since I've started blogging. It was given to me from Helen at firenzecards.blogspot.com. She is truly talented and has become a good friend in the short time we've been following each other's blogs.
Well, I need to list 10 Honest things about myself and then share this award with other bloggers. Oh my God, this is going
to be hard so here goes.

1. I've tried almost every type of craft out there but the only ones that have held my interest are scrapbooking and cardmaking.
2. I wait until the last minute to do things, which is why I'm so tired now from preparing for my daughter's visit.
3. I worry about whether my grand daughter will love me when she gets older which is why I spoil her so much now.
4. I love being by myself so I can scrap or do whatever I want to do. (Thanks DH for having a job and being gone during the day.)
5. I watch one soap opera during the day -The Bold and the Beautiful.
6. I am not honest with the amount of money I tell my husband I spend on craft supplies.
7. My mind is constantly running at 1,000 miles a minute. I will talk to you about one thing and the next minute I'll be on a totally different subject. When you get to know me, you will get used to it and will be able to follow me.
8. I keep my friends close to my heart.
9. I don't like being out doors. I can stay in my house for a week and it wouldn't bother me. My daughter has shown me pictures she's taken of flowers and other things in my yard and I did not recognize them.
10. I hate filing and folding clothes.

OK, so now I am passing this award to a couple of my blogger friends. They are truly talented and give me loads of inspirationa and ideas.

The Wise Old Man

I know you did not expect to hear from me so soon but as I was cleaning today, I came across this little essay or whatever you may call it. I don't know where I found it but it was written in my handwriting. It must have affected me so much that I had to write it down. It is beautiful. If you have the time, please read this. I started to type it all in this post but decided to google the title and the essay came up. So I am sending you the link. It is called "The Wise Old Man" . If you have been blessed by this message please forward it to your loved ones and your friends. It is the way we touch each other with simple truths that spread goodness in the world. Who knows, a miracle may happen as a result.
Have a Blessed day,

Shabby Chic Card

Hi Guys,
I know I have been missing in action again. Next week is Thanksgiving and my daughter and her family will be visiting. I wanted to share this card I made before they arrive. I know that once my grand baby gets here, I won't have access to my computer much. Can you believe that she is just 3 and she loves computers? So anyway I will not get a chance to post as much next week with all the cooking and visiting we will be doing. I want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. After what we went through 2 years ago, my family is so very grateful for every moment we are able to spend together. Please make every moment special this Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Hope you enjoy my card..

Envelope Pocket Mini Book

Hello,
Last night I finished making my Thanksgiving cards. Can you believe it is less than a couple of weeks away? I know I will be busy as a bee but I can't wait to get to see my daughter, son-in-law, and the apple of my eye, Brie. I can just see her in my arms, propped on my hip watching me cook and asking me questions about what I am making. I can't wait. I decided to use the rest of the papers from "Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper" to make an Envelope Pocket Mini Book. As you see from the pictures above, I have just started. I will need pictures from Thanksgiving and plenty of embellishments to finish the book. So until then, I will work on it bit by bit until I have it completed and will share with everyone. My mini book will have plenty of space for pictures and journaling. I will definitely leave a space to journal about the things in my life I am grateful for. What are you grateful for this holiday season? Have a nice weekend.
Hugs,

No, Not Again!!!!

Hello Everybody,
No, not this time!! The last Thanksgiving card I posted (a few posts below this one) was taken outside in my yard. My daughter says that natural lighting is better. I actually laid down flat on the ground to get a shot. Well today’s share is another Thanksgiving card but I am not lying down on the ground to take a picture again. I don’t believe I did it the last time. I got the design for this card from Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts who also got it from another demonstrator. I loved the card, the paper and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys. The highlight of this card is the center flower made using our 5 Petal Flower Punch. I hope you enjoy viewing this card as much as I enjoyed making it. I’m doing a few and they will go out in the mail tomorrow. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Creative Projects

Hi! A. Jarrett here from Gabrielle Kai Photography. I'd like to thank my mother for inviting me as a guest author on her blog!

I am no where near as talented as she is when it comes to scrapbooking or making cards! They are very beautiful, don't you think? I express my creativity through photography and capturing the world through my lens.

One thing that that I admire about my mother is that she is always has wonderful ideas for creative projects, which she shares with you in this space. Whether its cards, or scrapbook pages, or mini-notebooks - she always has something up her sleeve. When I visit, I am always prepared for her to show me all of ther latest projects.

My creative project involves a daily photo. I have titled this photography project, Daily Discoveries - where I post a photo a day in 2009. I am in the home stretch of this project, but it has been so fulfilling for me! The image above is one of my favorite images taken this year.
Do you have any creative projects that you'd like to share? I would love to see your work!

Thanks so much for having me today, Mom ~ I enjoyed my time here!

Fall Card

Good Afternoon All,
I am still struggling to take good pictures of my cards. I might need a better camera. Any hoot, I was told that natural light was best. So I decided to take this shot outside in my yard. I know I'm kind of late with my fall card. You can also consider it a Thanksgiving card, but I waited until the last minute to order the designer series paper and stamp set I used to make this card. I've been posting Christmas stuff I know but I just had to do this one before Thanksgiving is here and gone. Enjoy!!!

The majority of the items I used came from the Holiday Mini Catalog.
Supplies:
Base card: Chocolate Chip Card Stock
Layers: - Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper (Page 13 in mini)
Leaf Stamps: Autumn Splendor (page 12 & 13 in mini)
Card Stock for Stamps: Really Rust and More Mustard
Sentiment: Grateful Greetings Stamp Set (Page 12 in the mini)
Gold Embossing Powder
Versa Mark
Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
Colored Twine and beads: From my own stash

Happy Birthday !!

My son-in-law's birthday is this weekend. It is hard to do a masculine card and he is definitely masculine. No flowers and ribbon for him. So in trying to come up with something "masculine", I ran across a video by the Saucy Stamper and it was perfect for my son-in-law. But I did add a little clear rhinestone just to tease him. I am mailing this card on Wednesday and hopefully it will get there on time (this year). I hope he like's it.
