Convention Here We Come!!

My friend and fellow demonstrator and I (hey Suzie!!) are leaving on Tuesday morning for Salt Lake City, Utah to attend Stampin' Up!'s annual Convention. This is our first time going and we are both very excited. I am frantically trying to pack and get my convention swaps done. Today's share is a couple of items I will try to swap at the convention with other demos. The first picture highlights the marker and a piece of ribbon from the Bermuda Bay color line.

Gift Card Holder Plus Directions

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. With all the rain we had this week, it is finally beautiful outside. Today I am going to share with you a Gift Card Holder. On my last card post my daughter asked me why I did not do a photo tutorial of how I made the card. I told her that it was too late and that I would try on my next card. Well here it is. If you have any questions or if I have left out any directions please contact me. At the top of this post is a picture of the finished card holder. Below are the instructions and pictures as I made the card.

On the picture above I used our new Crushed Curry Card Stock for the base of the holder. This piece was cut at 7 5/8 X 4 3/4 inches. I then cut a piece of Designer Series Paper called "Tall Tales" at 4 X 1 1/8 inches. Next I cut another piece of Old Olive at 3 3/8 X 2 inches, Crushed Curry at 3 1/8 X 1 3/4 inches and a piece of Whisper White at 2 7/8 X 1 1/2 inches. Now lets put this all together.

I'm trying not to make the pictures large but you probably can't see it but I ran the the large piece of Crushed Curry through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder. I then scored this piece at 1 3/8 inches and 4 1/2 inches.

This is a picture of the card holder folded before I continued.

Next I took an A2 envelope from Stamping Up. They are so nice. I then sealed it closed in the back and cut it in half.

I used my snail adhesive and glued the two pieces of envelope together.

After I sealed them together, I put adhesive on one side of the envelope and placed it on the inside of the folder.

I then sealed the other side to the holder and now you can see what the card holder will look like once it is opened.

Next I took my strip of Tall Tales Designer Series Paper and attached it to the top flap of the holder.

Then I used adhesive to attach my small piece of Crushed Curry to the piece of Old Olive Cardstock.

I took my small piece of Whisper White Card Stock and stamped the little bird from the "Cheep Talk" stamp on it. I also stamped Happy Birthday from the new "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set.

I then attached the white stamped card stock to the piece of Crushed Curry.

I turned the old olive, crushed curry and stamped whisper white piece over and placed Stampin' Up! dimensionals on the back to attach it to the base holder.

The above picture shows the layer with the bird which was attached so that it could overlap the top flap. The picture also shows how when opened you can put a gift card, money, or a note inside.

If you would like to learn how to make this card holder in video format (I haven't gotten to that point yet), you may go to my upline Angie Kenney's website: http://www.chicnscratch.typepad.com/chicnscratchlive.

I hope you understood all the steps in this tutorial. Hopefully in the future my daughter will help me downsize it a bit.
Hugs,
Sharon

Paypal Button

Hi Guys, (as my grandbaby would say)

In an earlier post I said that my blog was "under construction". I will be making a few changes here and there, hopefully to make this blog easier to read and user friendly. You might have noticed in the top right hand corner a Paypal Button. This button for now will be used for those who would like to purchase a Catalog and Idea book from me. I have an option for local customers which is $5.00 (I will deliver) and for those that are not local and I have to mail, the cost is $8.50. Let me explain that this catalog and idea book has 208 pages of beautiful stamps, paper, ribbon and accessories. It includes pictures of cards and 3-D items you can make with our products. That's why we call it our catalog and idea book. If you make an order of at least $25.00, you can get your catalog at no charge.

In about a month, I will also sell sets which will enable you to make your own cards. These sets will include all
supplies you need to complete the card so STAY TUNED!!!
Hugs,
Sharon

Simple Yet Elegant

Today I received an order from Stampin' Up! and I was so excited. I finally received my Big Shot Bigz Die called "Tulipe". I have to be honest and say that I ordered this die just to make this particular card. When I saw Terri from nutzaboutstamping do a video on this card, I just had to have it, although it took me 2 months to make up my mind. This card was so simple to make. I cut my white card stock at 5 1/4 by 11 inches and folded it in half to make the card base. I then cut a piece of black card stock at 5X5 inches and ran it through the Big Shot with the Tulipe Die. I removed the cut pieces and used the negative image of the 5X5 piece of card stock and attached it to my white card base. We sell 5 1/4 square envelopes so all I need is to open it up, write my sentiment and get it ready to mail off to a special friend. How simple is that, yet so elegant. I can't wait to see what other color combinations I can use with this die. But for now I'm off to bed.

Sharon

Stampin' Up! New Idea Book and Catalog Open House

I am formally inviting everyone in driving distance :) to my first annual New Catalog Open House. We will get together on Saturday, July 11th at 1:00 pm until at my home. We will have a make and take and plenty of give aways. This is one Open House you will not want to miss. I am so excited about our new catalog and it is a privilege to be able share it with all who attend. If you have friends interested in cardmaking and scrapbooking, don't hesitate to bring them. Shortly some of you will receive an invitation where you will be able to RSVP. Please do, so that I will have enough supplies for everyone. If you will be bringing someone, please email me and let me know. Thanks for all your support in the last year and hopefully we will continue to have a good time at our monthly workshops in the year to come.
Hugs,
Sharon

Happy 4th of July

Yes, I know that my card share today should have a July 4th theme. But I am so busy trying to get ready for my "New Catalog Open House". Today I'm posting another set of 3X3 note cards. Hopefully the picture of these are better than the last ones. In addition to the cards, I included a box to hold the cards. For the cards I used white and old olive card stock, the "Eyelet Border Punch and the New "Tall Tales" Designer Series Paper. The "Oval All" stamp set was used for the sentiment. On the box I stamped and cut out the butterfly from the "Great Friends" stamp set. Enjoy and I hope you had a safe and happy 4th.
