Have You Missed Me?

Hello Ladies,
Yes, I know it has been a long time. I have done a complete turn around. So much has happened since I last posted on this blog. The main thing is that I have started another blog on WordPress, which is similar to this one. Since I have started Art Journaling, I thought that a new blog would be best for me. I still scrapbook, make cards (as needed) and do other mixed media projects like before but visual journaling is my main interest. You might not like what I do now but this is what is best for me. I'm more relaxed when I sit down to create. I don't worry about perfection (I'm far from it) and believe me I am still learning. I just journal and create what's in my mind and soul at the moment. If you are interested in seeing my new site (which is still under construction) go to: www.cherrysartfuljourney.com and please subscribe. I miss you all and hope that we can come together again.

Art, Heart and Healing

Hi Everyone,
In my October 6th post I told you about a FREE on line class that I was going to take called "Art, Heart and Healing. It is so deep. On one side of the page we had to write positive thoughts about ourselves whether we feel them or not. Then we were to gesso, paint or college over them and do a background. This was a way of letting go of the negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts. On the right side of the page, we were to draw a frontal picture of ourselves if we wanted to. There is no way I can do a portrait of myself. I'm just learning and has a long way to go. There is a lot more or corrections to this portrait I could have done but I felt the need to stop because I was scared of messing it up more. That is also one of the healing points I have learned in art journaling-to not be afraid of messing up. I have a lot of practice to do but I am determined. I collaged the left side of the page and used water soluable color crayons on the face of my portrait. We are so many colors of beautiful that I am having a hard time coming up with what I like. Oh well, just wanted to share and I'm back to the drawing board. Have a nice week everyone.

Happy Birthday Sisters

Hi Guys,
Today I would like to share a couple of cards I made for my 2 sisters who had birthdays recently. O.K. I admit that they are belated. I just can't seem to get things done on time lately. Hopefully they will like them. I used Chocolate Chip Card Stock as the base of the cards and I used a collage technique for the first layer. I tore pieces of patterned tissue paper and glued them down using matt medium on a piece of white card stock. I did two layers with torn pieces of the tissue paper on top of each other. I stamped an image of a lady that reminded of my sisters from "Loralie Designs" and colored the image with Copic Markers. I then used dimensionals to pop the colored image on top of the collage. I could have jazzed the card up with flowers bling, or ribbon but I kind of wanted to keep it simple. You might not be able to see from the photo but I did spray the collage and the image with Pearl glimmer mist to give it a bit of a shine. I hope everyone have a nice weekend and until next time..

Hello Everyone!!!

I can't believe that I have not blogged since my birthday. I'm not going to apologize this time because I have been really busy with my family and myself. I hope you all are doing well. I'd like to share with you something that I'm involved in at the moment. Don't freak out, I'm still making cards and other mixed media items. I think I told you guys on my last post that I have started to do Art Journaling. I have been taking online classes and I'm having such a good time. One of my instructors is a beautiful lady from the UK whose we all call Tam. Her website is: www.willowing.ning.com.
Tam is an absolutely awesome artist. The good news is that beginning October 18th, she is offering a free online art journaling class called "Art, Heart & Healing". Her blinkie is on my right side bar at the top. So if you would like to know what I've been doing and the least bit interested, check out her site. If you like what you see, sign up for this free class. I promise you will enjoy it.
Warm Hugs,
Sharon

Introducing "Sydney Marie"

Hi Everyone,
I have a good reason for being missing in action this time. My new grand daughter, Sydney Marie, was born July 11th. She weighed 7 lbs 6 oz. They also have Gabrielle who is 3 and will turn 4 in August. Sydney will be 4 weeks tomorrow and at her doctor's visit on Thursday, she weighed 9 lbs 6 oz. She's a beautiful, alert, breast fed baby.

I have only had time to do a little art journaling since I've been here but hope to be able to share some projects when I get home. I hope everyone is doing fine and take care.
Hugs,
Sharon

Swap Entries

Hi Everyone,
I'm back from Atlanta for what is my first leg in my journey of getting my 2nd grandbaby born and taking care of my 3 year old grand daughter. We arrived home yesterday after a long 9 hr drive and I have to say that she was such a good girl. So far today we have completed two projects. We made shapes with a play dough set and we made a card with a machine and die called the Cuttle Kids. Thanks LisaLisa for this die machine. She really love it.

Today I'm sharing a picture of a couple of swaps I participated in recently. I took a picture of everything together because it would be too many pictures to post. The tags shown are two of five I made. I made 3 with ribbon and 2 with fun fur. As for the flowers, I had to make 3 of each of the six shown. The light green one was made along with a pink and a purple one. I used white card stock and sprayed them with Starburst Stains from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Also for the flowers we had to put them on a decorated card and inclose them in plastic like they do the Prima Flowers. So I made 3 of each of the designs shown and packaging for each three. Hope you like them. I will be posting sparatically because we are awaiting the birth of the new baby so pray for us and take care.

New Video

Hi Everyone,
For those of you that are not subscribed to my channel on YouTube, I'd like to invite you to watch a new video I've uploaded. Please remember that it's only my 4th video and I'm still a newbie at all of this.
I have to learn how not be nervous, how to stay in focus and how to edit among other things. I forgot to take a picture of this project but hopefully the video will be good enough to let you know what I have going on.
Here's the link to my video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcTLEx1GlTI.
Take care everybody.
Hugs,
Sharon

O.K. It's Been Almost a Month...

since I've posted. I have still been under the weather and taking a lot of tests. I feel better this week and have been doing a few things. Since I last posted I am involved in 3 swaps. One I have already sent out and the other two I am still working on. I will post my swaps as soon as they are completed. What I am sharing today is a picture of the cover of a journal I made recently. I consider it an Art Journal but I am putting any and everything in it that I want. I made the cover using patterned paper, card stock, pictures from the internet, tissue paper, ribbon, bling, flowers and just about anything else I could find to put on it. I just collaged it all together to give it a grungy look. It was fun being messy and not having a particular technique that I had to follow. The stuff I have in it so far are things that I like. I have regular journaling, pictures, paintings, drawing and all kind of stuff. It's really fun because this journal (other than the cover) will not be shared with anyone. It is mine all mine. I have no fear. Until next time,

Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish all of my friends and readers a very Happy Mother's Day. Whether you have given birth or not, I feel that all women have been a mother figure to someone at some point in their lives. I have been enjoying my day and hope you have also.
Today's share is a card I sent to my daughter for Mother's Day. I made and mailed it last Wednesday but could not share it with you all because she is a subscriber and would have seen it before I wanted her to. The card base is by Recollections which I bought in a set at Michael's. It has a glittery effect without the glitter if you can understand that. The paper I used is kind of wild which I thought my daughter would like. I would have used Vintage paper but decided to use this because of the colors. I distressed and curled up the edges of the paper. I added one of the lollypop flowers I made and an envelope using the Stampin Up! envelope sizzix die. I cut it out using the same paper that the card was made from. I took a piece of white trim and sprayed it with Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist and attached some pearls above it. I tied some cream and gold twine around the top of the little envelope to keep it closed. I used Tim Holtz' Alcohol Ink in gold to change the color of a silver heart I also attached to the envelope. Inside of the envelope (which I didn't take a picture of) I have a little card that says "Happy Mother's Day". When I told my daughter that she could untie the twine and open the envelope to take the card out she asked me what it said and I told her only Happy Mother's Day. She then said that she wanted to leave the card like it was and would not open the envelope to make sure it stayed like I sent it. I wonder if she would have opened it if I told her that there was a $100 bill in it? :) On the inside of the card I wrote a message to her. Please enjoy the rest of your day. I sure am.

Painted Canvas Project

Hi everyone,
Today I want to share a project I made which was part of a UStream class I took Friday night. The class was given by one of my YouTube friends called "YolieBean". She live on the West Coast so there was a 2 hr difference in time. The class for me started at 9:00 PM Friday night. I ended up getting into the class 35 minutes late because I was trying to get some of the things we needed to do for the class done ahead of time so I could keep up. I took a nap earlier on Friday evening so I would be fresh and ready to create. Well I lost track of time and by the time I got in she had already started and I was 35 minutes late. Thank God the class was recorded because I was able to go back and see what I missed. So instead of making the project with her, I didn't start until Saturday.

This is a canvas plaque I hopefully someday will be able to put on the wall in my craft room. Two of the flowers (the lollypop in the lower left and the one on the upper right side were made by me. The other two were Primas. This was the first time I have ever painted on canvas and I really enjoyed it. I might try another project using canvas later. What ever I do I have to get it done before my new grand baby arrive this summer. Have a nice week and take care.
Hugs,
